Are You A Good Person?
Will You Make It Into Heaven?
“Take the (good person) test to find out”
FREE reward for taking “The Good Person Test” A value of $11.65. You will find the FREE reward at the bottom of the “Christian Martyrs” page.
To Measure What a Good Person Is and Since we’re talking about Heaven, we’ll use the 10 Commandments as a measuring stick.
Please answer yes or no to each of these 4 questions to see how you measure on the scale of “good people”
2) Have you ever stolen anything? Yes No
If you’ve ever stolen anything even one time in your life, what would you call that person? (a thief)
3) Have you ever looked at someone with lust? Yes No
4) Ever used the Lords name to curse? Yes No
If so, the Bible calls that “blasphemy” and Exodus 20:7 says God will not hold anyone guiltless who misuses His name.
If you are guilty of all 4 like most people then by your own admission you are a liar, a thief, an adulterer at heart & a blasphemer. That’s just 4 of the 10 commandments.
It’s not about “being perfect”. It’s about “sin”. What is sin? Sin isn’t just doing things we shouldn’t do. It’s also NOT doing the things we should do. James 4:17 says: “Anyone who knows the good he ought to do & doesn’t do it, sins.”

Nice conviction you have there.

I appreciate the compliment but the conviction is solid because of the evidence I have found to support christianity as the only real way into heaven. To have all the evidence on our side makes it easy to be convinced of the truth.

I was brought up baptised as a Methodist in the south. I loved God and loved going to church; it fascinated me. Until I was 15, I followed the church without question; i then began looking at everything more closely. I decided to be agnostic, because in my mind, I found doubt in the existance of God; not so much as a complete denial, or some kind of hatred for him,but simply doubt. In our government, simply having reasonable doubt for the crime is enough to be charged innocent. Being moved around the country and seeing so many cultures has shown me that this is the way I should feel about religion, and thus my decision to be an athiest. Arguements like yours fascinate me. I fancy myself at least a little intelligent, being as modest and honest as I can. So, when I see facts presented in a usually faith-based debate, I love it. I have been looking for a way to contact you; I would love to “interview you” for a project in my AP English class. And, for personal interest, to talk to you about the topic as a whole. I’ve tried looking for contact information and have come up short. I’m hoping this will work! I hope it’s made obvious, but I’m not looking to bash you, or your religion. If i DO offend you, it is not purposeful; no offense will be taken from anything you say. It would make my night if you could contact me at c.dog1441@yahoo.com,asap.

I respect your opinion but there are simple proofs that god doesn’t exist. First of all we have to examine the big bang theory. The theory states that the universe started in a dense ball of matter. Now we look at Einstein’s theory of relativity, time is affected by gravity, the more gravity an object exerts the slower time moves. Thus at the beginning of the universe time did not exist because the dens ball of matter is exerting too much gravity. Therefore there was no time for god to exist. Also, the only reason I feel compelled to do this is because Christians keep coming to my house to try and spread the good word, which annoys me quite a bit because I don’t go to Christian house to tell them god doesn’t exist. So next time you think your doing a good thing by being a missionary ask yourself if you actually are, because you feel persecuted when we say god doesn’t exist. Well its the same the other way around I fell persecuted when you tell me that my belief that there is no god is wrong. Thank You for reading this. :D
admin says:
Thank you for your comment. I have to tell you that you gave me the best explanation of the big bang theory I’ve ever heard so cudos to you. :-)
However you said 4 things that have me a bit curious.
1) Big Bang “Theory”. Why would anybody elevate a “theory” to the level of “evidence” if it is only a theory?
2) “universe started in a dense ball of matter” Lets assume this is correct for a moment. You know I would disagree but lets just assume it is correct for now.
A-Where did that “dense ball of matter” come from, if it didn’t come from God?
B-How did that dense ball of matter begin, if God didn’t give it its beginning?
C-If nothing existed before that dense ball of matter existed, how did it create itself, apart from God?
D-If something can be created from nothing, do we have any scientific experiments conducted in a lab that show this?
“at the beginning of the universe time did not exist” You said this is true because their was to much gravity for time to exist.
A- Where did gravity come from, apart from God?
B- How did gravity begin, apart from God?
C- What caused gravity to lesson itself so time could begin?
D- How do we know this is true apart from a “theory”?
“Therefore there was no time for god to exist”
A- If there was no time for God to exist, how could our beginning have time to exist? Which came first, us or God?
B- If there was no time for God to exist, wouldn’t God be subject to time?
C- If there was no time for God to exist, wouldn’t God be less powerful than time?
D- If God does exist, wouldn’t He be the creator of time and time be subject to Him because He is greater than time?
Thanks for listening,

By your measure I am not a good person. I have lied, stolen, committed adultery and blasphemed at least once in my life. Do I not get any credit for not committing genocide, raping women or enslaving people who do not believe in god. I only ask because none of those things are prohibited by the ten commandments. In fact the reason they are not prohibited is because the bible goes on to instruct it’s followers to do just that.
Those things that Christians would consider to be sins are just part of human nature, everyone will be ‘guilty’ of them at one time or another. However, fortunately, most people do not commit rape, or genocide, or torture and enslavement of people. This is not because of religious belief but because it is innately human to be good. Good people will sometimes do bad things but to do evil things requires religion. The suicide bombing fraternity is entirely faith based. The genital mutilation of children is entirely faith based. Who in their right minds upon seeing a newborn baby boy would think this child is almost perfect, all I have to do now is cut off his foreskin? Or who would think to cut off the clitoris of a little girl and sew up her labia except unless it was for religious reasons. Remember, those people have just as much faith, or even more than you do but I am sure you would find this as repulsive as I do.
Religious people seem to believe that we get our morals from the bible but I argue that the bible gets it’s morals from our nature. I do not think mankind would have gotten as far as bronze age Palestine if we had been killing one another on a whim. Archaeological evidence shows that homo sapiens have been on earth for at least 100,000 years, some experts believe it to be more like 250,000 years, either way that’s a very long time to have survived without morals. It’s also a long time for God to wait before taking action. I believe it is at the core of our nature to be altruistic to one another.
To offer heaven as reward for being morally good and following the word of the bible is in itself immoral. The ‘good’ book says thou shall have no god but me. Does this mean that followers of other faiths would be denied entry? Would a Hindu who has never done harm to anyone be allowed into heaven? Or a Sikh, or any of the other faiths which do not follow the christian bible? What about an atheist? What about an unbaptized newborn baby? The Roman Catholic church used to say unbaptized children would spend eternity in purgatory until they recently apologized. They also apologized for the persecution of the Jews, for what they did to Galileo and for the sexual abuse of innocent children by catholic priests. I understand the pope is now once again infallible.
I see what you’re trying to do here, to get people to live their lives in a good way and I commend you for it, but religiosity is not the way to do it. Morals do not come from religion but is innate in the human species. Bring your children up to do no harm to others, to be honest, to be hard working and helpful to people who need it. There is no need to invoke the fear of a supernatural deity to do this. All religions teach tolerance of people of the same faith whilst at the same time declaring war on anyone not of the same belief.
Religion is obviously man made, I implore anyone who reads this to think critically about what they believe. Ask yourself why you are not a Muslim or a Hindu or a Buddhist. The religion you are in is purely down to the circumstances of your birth. If you were born in the middle east you would most likely follow Islam, America Christianity, the far east Buddhist. If you were born in Europe you may well be secular, lucky you! The followers of any faith believe they are right just as much as the next one. Since they all have mutually exclusive beliefs they cant all be right. I posit that they are all wrong.
admin says:
Your so far off on the first 90% of what you wrote that I won’t bother with a reply. As for the last paragraph. I did walk down that path and you are correct. I asked myself one day why I was a Christian and not a Muslim? I came to the same conclusion you did. It was where I was born that made the difference. Then I became determined to find out what religion was correct. As I went through them I found only 3 that had any evidence to support them. Islam, Juaism & Christianity but Christianity was head and shoulders above the other 2 when it came to evidence to support it. Christianity is the only religion that has Scientific Evidence, Archeological Evidence, Prophetic Evidence, Legal Evidence & Statistical Probability Evidence to support it.
You can listen to the highlights of some of them if you’d like. As far as evidence to prove that God does exist you can view 6 videos I did on Youtube. They are called “Is The Bible Trustworthy”? There is enough evidence in those 6 videos for any fair minded person to know that their is a God and who He is.
scott says:
Thank you for allowing my comment, I must say I didn’t expect it to be posted.
In response to your comment that I’m so far off on the first 90 percent. Please be specific on which points I am wrong. All of the comments I made are based on verifiable facts. To wit:
The bible on how to treat slaves: Deuteronomy 15:12-15; Ephesians 6:9; Colossians 4:1
God instructs his people to commit genocide: Deuteronomy 7:1-4
Murder, rape and pillage in the bible: Judges 21:10-24, Numbers 31:7-18, Deuteronomy 20:10-14, Deuteronomy 22:28-29,
The human species arose in Africa some 200,00 years ago: http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2005/02/050223122209.htm
The Pope apologizes: http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2000/mar/13/catholicism.religion
Religion as an excuse for genital mutilation of children: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Female_genital_mutilation#History_and_cultural_context
Based on the evidence above I do not think anyone can claim the moral superiority of religion. Further to that the fact that there is irrefutable evidence of mankind’s origin in Africa around 200,000 years ago must say something about human nature. How could we have existed, not only existed actually thrived as a species if our ancestors were going round killing one another? I say thrived because of the great ancient civilizations in Egypt, China and the new world, all of which pre-date the events of the bible, and because mankind spread throughout the world without any help from god. I see this as self evidence of humans having morals built in, so to speak. Come to think of it why are the people of Australia and America not mentioned in the bible? Is it because the writers of the bible were ignorant of their existence?
I do believe that many of the teachings of Christianity are worthwhile such as tolerance and none violence. Similar beliefs were held by the Jains some 600 – 900 years BC.The problem of the bible is that it’s so self contradictory, it’s easy to find passages to inspire hatred just as much as love.
So far as heaven and hell, the old testament makes no mention of such a place. It’s only when Jesus comes along that you’re threatened with eternal damnation if you don’t follow his teachings. This strikes me as a very immoral thing to say and not a very forgiving attitude to have.
I see you did not address my questions of just who would be allowed into heaven. I’ll take your silence on this matter to be that you believe they would be denied entry. No matter how good a person you may be you will not be allowed into heaven unless you believe in the god of the christian bible. Now, I do consider myself to be a good person. Although I once lied stole and committed adultery that was a long time ago when I was a young man. I am now a loving husband and father, I work hard to provide for my family, I’m non violent and very tolerant of people of all types. I give to charity and help out in my local community. Obviously I don’t believe in heaven or hell, but do you mean to tell me if it does exist I wont be allowed in but a Catholic priest guilty of sexually abusing children would be as long as he repents. Come on seriously!
Could you please make it clear to me and your readers just what your position is on whether Jews and Muslims get into heaven as they are both followers of the same god as Christianity, and also whether followers of other non abrahamic religions such as Sikhs and Hindus would get in if they were good people?.
I watched some of your videos. Seems like your ‘evidence’ is all based on what it says in the bible. For this to be acceptable evidence it requires that you take the bible to be true. Muslims, Jews, Sikhs, or Hindus could all make the same claim that they have evidence as they all have a holy book. This is no proof at all other than it proves people could write. It’s widely accepted the the bible was written some time between 30 and 200 years after the death of Jesus. It can’t be relied upon to be the word of Jesus, if he did indeed exist. Not only that but it is made up of a collection of texts chosen from several different sources. There were many more texts that were not included in the bible than was. By your own admission if you had been born in the middle east you would have been a Muslim. I dare say you would have looked at the evidence of other religions and decided Islam was the best. It comes as no surprise that there’s a bias towards Christianity in a Christian nation.
Even if it could be proved that Jesus did exist and that he did the things claimed in the bible there would still be no proof that he was the son of god, that god exists or that the universe was created by god. Just because something is in print doesn’t make it true. Checkable facts are what makes things true. If you have any evidence of this sort I would be most interested to see it.
Finally, I note that when you were thinking critically about which religion was true you seem to have discounted the possibility that none of them are true. Could I ask if that was something you considered.
I can see from your videos that you are sincere and I do accept that Christianity is probably preferable to some of the other faiths because of it’s tolerance. A lesser of two evils if you like. Europe is so secular today probably because of it’s christian history. I also accept that many people find comfort or solace in believing or that it gives them some kind of purpose. Just wanting something to be true doesn’t make it true and there’s no such thing as personal truth. Something is either true or it isn’t. All of the evidence, of which there is a huge amount and it’s growing every day, points to the fact that all faiths are untrue. That there is nothing supernatural in the universe.
Thank you for taking the time to read my reply.
Kind regards

This will probably be the last time I’ll respond on this website to you. I have several videos on youtube that I have to respond to and it is all getting very difficult time wise to keep up. You can find me best for your case on one of the videos I did on athiesm. If you look up “Proof, atheists don’t exist” you’ll find me and can comment. If you would move to the videos on youtube it’s easier for me to keep this up though not all the time. Time is always an issue for me.
I’ll be straight forward since again time is the issue. Yes, the only people who will get into heaven are the people who believe in Jesus. Romans 10:9-10, John 3:16 and the entire bible makes that clear. That is not as intolerant as you might think. 2 + 2=4 and their is no other option for it. Truth is the truth and their is no other option for it. Also, other religions claim they are the only way into heaven or whatever they want to call it so christians don’t have a corner on that market.
That leads to the next question. How can I be so arrogant as to think someone who believes in Jesus is the only person who can get into heaven? The answer is God said it. I’m just repeating what He said. Now you’ll want to know why I’m so set in my “opinion”. It’s not an opinion but a fact based on research that bares these facts out. Christianity is the only religion that has so much evidence to support it. I was one of the people who actually took the time to look into religions to find the truth. What I found was a appaling. A lot of religions appear to be based on nothing more than blind faith and tradition.
For me it is a terrible thing to stake my eternity and the eternity of my family on something so flimsy. I had to have answers to find out what was true. I didnt do this lightly and it took me some time to come to the final conslusion. You can see the highlights of why I’m convinced in my 6 videos on youtube called “Is the Bible Trustworthy”?. They are not in great detail but they are in enough detail for someone who doesn’t want to search as hard as I did to be convinced christianities claims are true.
Most people who call themselves atheists never did any of the research to find out about Jesus claims. If they looked into it they only did by reading other atheists materials. Hardly credible sources on the subject. Another example is the “Treaty of Tripoli”. Atheists look at it from another atheist and don’t know what they are reading was sanitized on the pro Christian part. The whole treaty reads as pro chrisitan, not against it. Unfortunately they wouldn’t know it because their sources are biased. The same thing applies with evolution. How many evolutionists have every looked into creation science. I’ll bet that just got a laugh out of you. Creation science has a lot of PHD’s doing solid work but they can’t get published because of the bias.
However if an evolutionist did look into it they would find that the granite that surrounds the earth is filled with polonium 212 or 214, I can’t remember at the moment. The polonium would disapear within 164 millionths of a second if it wasn’t frozen into the granite so fast it didn’t have time to dissipate. That means when God said “Let the dry land appear” it did faster then 164 millionths of a second. Creation scientists have facts to back them up on a lot of issues but evolutionists will never know that because they think it’s so crazy they prefer to be ignorant on the subject and stick with a “theory” instead of facts. Where are the scientists with enough courage to actually go where the science leads them? You’ll find a lot of them with PHD’s in the field of creation science. They are willing to be laughed at and ridaculed because they are actually in the persuit of science and where it leads them.
Back to christianity as being true. Here are some highlights of why I believe it.
If you would like research materials before you make a solid decision, I highly recommend a book by ”Mark Cahill” http://www.markcahill.org order “One Heartbeat Away”. You can also go to http://www.leestrobel.com ”Lee Strobel” and order his book called “The Case for Christ”.
Inside these books you will find compelling proofs & solid measurable evidence that the Bible is true. You will find things like the following:
1) The Bible is supported by archeology.
2) The Bible is supported by third-party evidence.
3) The Bible is supported by fulfilled prophecy evidence.
4) The Bible is supported by statistical probability.
5) The Bible is supported by historical evidence.
6) The Bible is supported by science.
EXAMPLE: The STATISTICAL PROBABILITY of Jesus NOT being God is like this; Jesus fulfilled about 300 prophecies about Himself.
Things like being crucified predicted 700 years before crucifixion was invented. Being born in a town called Bethlehem about 1,000 years before a town called Bethlehem existed.
A statistical analysis was done on ONLY 8 of these prophecies being true about any person and here is what it looks like.
If you take the state of Texas and filled it 2 feet deep with silver dollars. Then you painted one of the silver dollars red and threw it into the mix of silver dollars. Then you mixed up all the silver dollars. Now you take a person, blindfold them and let them walk into Texas blindfolded as far as they want to go. Now they bend down and pick up the red silver dollar while still blindfolded & they do it on the first try. This is already impossible and any reasonable person knows it but that is the probability of only 8 prophecies about Jesus being true.
We clearly see that all 300 prophecies about Jesus have been proven true. That is the kind of information you will find as you study the materials I’ve recommended on this page. (Quote taken from Josh McDowells original book of Evidence That Demands a Verdict at http://www.josh.org)
EXAMPLE: Science is first found in Genesis 1:2-3 which describes the process of ”Sonoluminescence”. This is the process of water being hit with sound waves & light is produced. How could the Bible describe this process almost 4,000 years ago, but science just discovered it in the last 50 years? Find more information in a book by “Ray Comfort” called “Scientific Facts of the Bible” http://www.livingwaters.com
The Bible is the ONLY book with all 6 areas of support you see above. The best Bible I have ever found is “The Evidence Bible” by “Ray Comfort”. You can find that Bible here at http://www.livingwaters.com. It answers the 100 most asked questions about Christianity & God. It has so much information in it that just by owning this Bible a person could probably skip 4 years of Bible College.
When you read the sources I quoted above, you will find overwhelming evidence that will leave no doubt in your mind about the Bible being the ONLY religious book that can be trusted absolutely, completely & totally.
joetheplumber says:
You said “I appreciate that we are on the same page when it comes to getting people into heaven.” Don’t you find it kind of ironic that you, a mere mortal man are trying to shepherd people into a heaven that “god” has made so difficult to enter? And that “god” himself needs your help to do “his” work? This seems astounding to me.
I’m sure that you will say “Well, the tickets are free – and God welcomes all into his fold who will simply believe in his Son as the way, the truth, and the life”. But there is a core problem here: This free ticket is coming from the same “god” that made the rules for entry – and those rules require a blood sacrifice. The idea that Jesus’ death on the cross fulfills this demand does not exactly exonerate this “god” from making the demand for blood in the first place.
It’s like a criminal at trial saying: “Yes, your honor, I did in fact set up a mine field around my house which killed 9 people. But the instructions I left at the east gate clearly stated that if you did not stay on the red line, you would be blown up. And look, 1 person read the sign, followed the red path, and arrived safely at my door.”
The judge then asks: “But what about the 3 people that didn’t believe the sign was real? What about the 3 people that didn’t even see the sign? And what about the 3 people that read your neighbor’s sign which apparently gave different instructions? These people were all killed. Don’t you see the cruelty in this, when you had the ability to simply not place the mine field in the first place?”
So this is the inherent problem in your religion: you cannot justify setting a trap by giving a potential escape from that trap. Why does god make an imperfect humanity, and then proceed to make a set of arbitrary rules which lead the majority of his creatures into an eternal suffering? This is such a cruel and barbaric concept that is not helped by the notion that “God did sacrifice his only begotten son, in order to pay the penalty of your sins.” But why did “god” create the penalty in the first place? Don’t you see? It’s a cruel setup from the get-go. Nobody but a mad scientist would set up such an experiment.
Maybe it wouldn’t be so cruel if the errant creatures simply died like in the example, but the soul is eternal, which means that it will suffer indefinitely. And for what crime? Not knowing the way? Not reading the instructions? Not believing? Not trusting? I have a 10 yr old daughter. If she makes a mistake and disobeys me – yes, she may be punished. But that punishment is meant for one thing only: in order to correct her and make her a better person in the future. It is of no value to her or me to make any punishment permanent. She gets a million chances. Why? Because I love her. And eventually, if not at first, she will see that and respond to that and find her way because of that.
But the Christian god seems to be saying: “you only get 1 chance, 1 life, 1choice. If you fail for any reason, all hope is lost.” I will never believe in a god like that, since that’s not love even compared to normal human beings. Love does not give just 1 chance. And again, there’s no point to it anyway, since the mine field never had to be planted in the first place. There’s just no sense to it.
Note: not a real email. Please post any comment on your site. Thanks.

I’m sure if your daughter were going to die of some disease but you giving up your life would supply her with what she needs, you would gladly do it. God didnt create an evil world, He created a perfect world. Then He stacked the deck in our favor by making it so difficult to sin we as humans had to go way out of our way to sin and disobey what would have given us eternal peace, love & joy. It is the sin of man caused by the devil that we find ourselves in this situation.
God loved us enough to know we needed another way out since sin had taken over the entire world and corrupted it. The bible even says the world belonged to satan at that time. What was God willing to do? He sent His son to die so we wouldn’t have to. Would you send your daughter to die so others wouldn’t have to? I’m sure that last statement caused you a lot of pain because the thought of it repulsed you. You probably couldn’t do it. It would take a special kind of love to do it. That is the kind of love God showed us when He did it with His own son.
All He askes for is that we not reject what He paid so dearly for. Don’t reject the gift that is free to us but wasn’t free from Him. He paid the price. Will you accept His gift?

You get to choose who lives in your house. Why can’t God have the same choice? It’s not like He’s saying you can’t live their. All He is saying is that if you choose to live under His roof, you will obey His rules. It is a resonable request.

This is the tired old Ray Comfort stuff. For this to hold ANY water, you have to believe the bible is true. What’s moral about the first few commandments? It’s just saying how your god is a jealous, mad god who will punish you for thought crimes. That’s the basic idea behind a dictatorship. There is nothing moral about ‘having no gods before yahweh’. This kind of thing only works on the weak minded, and it’s laughable to most atheists who have spent 5 minutes thinking about it. Sorry, but next you’ll be saying how the banana is the atheists nightmare.
Critical thought is the most dangerous thing to dogma [the core of the abrahamic religions], and that is why atheism is one of the fastest growing groups in the country. Your religion is dying in the light of knowledge, as it should.
